Extending Life
Resin has the ability to coat and protect an object. In this project I focused first on the strength that resin adds to denim and how it can perhaps add to the already long physical life of a denim garment.
Besides this physical durability, people often develop an attachment to specific pieces of clothing over time. This emotional durability can be triggered by a wide variety of conditions, histories, memories, associations.
By creating surprising surface effects and original constructions I aim to create an emotional attachment between my designs and the wearer. By deploying resin’s ability to preserve and mold fabric, ‘desire’ as an engine of consumption, is transformed into a reason for keeping the garment for longer.
